Model 101: The Model Bag (Must Haves & The Not Quite Necessities)

Being a model is beyond a cute face and strut on the runway that will captivate the room, you must do your share behind the scenes as well.  The model bag is a necessity for photo shoots and fashion shows! Please take note my fabulous diva’s and suave men on the items that each of you should have in your model bags:

Runway Divas Must Haves:

·   Black & Nude Undergarments

·    Bra (Multi strap bra Nude & Black)

·   Black & Nude Heels (Pump style with a Point toe)

·   Open toe heel to wear with an evening gown

·   Thigh High boots (Black pair)

·   Denim Shorts (Black & Blue)

·   Denim Jeans (black & blue)

·   Sanitary napkins

·   Lotion

~Clear Deodrant

Runway Suave’s Must Haves:

·   Black & White fitted V-neck t-shirts

·   Black & White Boxers/Briefs

·   Button down shirt (Black or White)

·   Black & Camel color dress shoe

·   Black & Camel color boot

·   Invest in a pair of high-end sneakers (Solid color i.e. Black, White, Blue)

·   Denim Jeans (Black & Blue)

·   Dress Pants (Black & Grey)

·   Lotion

~Clear Deodrant

~Belt (Black/Brown)

The model bag is your responsibility to keep up with backstage during a fashion show and at a photo shoot.  I recommend that you purchase a small lock and lock the straps and zippers to prevent theft, if that may be a concern of yours when leaving your items behind.  Also, as models you begin to build a friendship with other models during auditions, keep your items close to each other’s backstage and at least one of you will always be near to look over the items.

I do believe it’s best to be prepared backstage during a show because as a model you may come to the show only walking for one designer. As the time progress leading up to Show Time, several designers may approach you, asking you to walk for them in their collection.  It’s best to have those necessities in your bag because it will consist of high fashion to urban streetwear style.  Listen, if you stay ready, then you won’t have to get ready hunti!  Preparation is key always and best wishes on your next runway journey!

Sidenote: Make sure that your lotion is unscented and deodorant and please do not wear anything frangrance...Wait until the job is done and then spray your favorite scents on your body.
