Model Tip Of the Day!
As a former model (yass hunti,Daun the fashion stylist was once a model), I wanted to give some advice to my aspiring models today; just two quick things for my models that love to do photoshoots and/or fashion shows. Are you ready? Alright, here we go….
Tip #1:
No one likes a know it all! Prime example hunti, you’re doing the third walk through at a fashion show rehearsal and the producer approaches you. Before he/she can give you direction…you quickly say to him/her “I already know! 3 second pose, then turn left and exit off the stage!” You proceed to walk on the runway to only notice that now the production has changed and now you’re confused, asking your peers to explain the directions for the runway…Listen here, when I tell you this sincerely….Sssshhh! Listen to the producer of the fashion show no matter if you find him/her to be repetitive because in the world of fashion, anything can change in a split second…
Tip #2:
For the model with restrictions! Listen here my aspiring models, listen here hunti, when designers select you for their collection, they already envision you ripping the runway and/or slaying that photoshoot in their designs. As they describe the design to you with so much joy, you begin to tell them you don’t like their designs because it’s not your style and you just don’t wear that kind of stuff! Then you proceed to let them know you don’t wear your hair like that as well so don’t let the hairstylist do that to your hair. Meanwhile, these designers are listening to all of your restrictions in disbelief that someone that’s a beginner, just as they were, has so many restrictions and now they are no longer interested in working with you as a model. Having restrictions is perfectly fine, but before you let a designer know what you don’t do and what you don’t like, listen to their concept and decline if it doesn’t fit your brand as a model.
It’s all about etiquette and the way you handle certain situations within the fashion industry will set the tone for more opportunities that will come your way!
